EXPERT

... and making very small series cost effectiv and fast to market, we have invested into a Essemtec EXPERT half-automated Pick&Place machine with Dispense- and Videosystem.

Especially low volume, startup projects will benefit from inhouse production.

Pool display installation video

LED

Have a look at the installation of our Pool Display in Germany (commentary: german). CPC is a radio (868MHz) enabled jumbo LED display driver. In combination with common weather sensors (i.e. those sold by ELV) it is the perfect eye-catcher with visability up to 50 meter.

Miniature Freebus coupler with voltage regulator

posted by tostmann on Fri 27 of Mar, 2009 [18:08 UTC]
FPM

Freebus-Processor-Module - a new step forward! This DIL24 footprint device will supply 3.3V to external components, RX and TX data from the bus and also has a powerful mircocontroller on board.

The switching step-down regulator provides 3.3V to the on board components and customers periphery. The module itself "eats up" 7mA from bus.

The on board ATmega88 is used to implement the bus protocol. Certain of its I/O is also available on the DIL24 socket.

A FPM-host-board will provide a Freebus-, ISP- and PORTD connector, as well as a switch and a LED. This is all you need to start developing your first Freebus actor or sensor or your own application rapidly.

The "gepimpte Funksteckdose"-prototype

posted by tostmann on Fri 06 of Mar, 2009 [15:47 UTC]
PMF-S

The prototype of the replacement PCB for an oridinary wireless switching socket is working great. Its making use of CPM module, so you are free to run the software making this switch work with common or your own wireless protocols.

See the project page of PMF-S ...

Pimp my Funksteckdose

inside

Due to the floatation with crabby chinese 433MHz wireless switches (3pcs + remote below 10 EUR) we are having the idea of just using its mechanical parts and equipping it with proper bi-directional 868MHz transceivers CPM - based on CC1101 chip. This will give a powerful device for Home-automation...

We'll keep you posted!

Re-design the CUL - CC1101 to USB module with Atmel AVR

posted by tostmann on Fri 20 of Feb, 2009 [12:03 UTC]
prototype

We have started a complete re-design of the CC1101 to USB module with Atmel AVR according to several TI design notes. Nevertheless it will be software-compatible with all former hardware versions.
The main new features are:

  • re-engineered HF circuit (DN025)
  • on-board chip antenna (DN016)
  • plastic USB case
  • optional shield covering all ICs

More soon ...

finished FUL prototype

posted by tostmann on Thu 05 of Feb, 2009 [23:31 UTC]
After a few tries the Freebus coupler with USB controller FUL is working as expected. We use the nice Atmel AT90USB controller again, as it will enable developers to implement every USB stack, or simply a modem emulation.
One aim of this development was: Voltage isolation - The optocoupler we use is spec'd for 5000Vrpm.
Next is: Software!

CC1101 based Serial modem module

posted by tostmann on Sun 01 of Feb, 2009 [20:26 UTC]
Many data is exchanged serial, so having a RF-2-UART module will simply let you exchange data wireless over up to 300 meters.
Either you use two of such CSM modules or you feed data from PC using a CUL.
Onboard-Levelshifter? will make the module work in 3.3V or 5V host circuits.

Aim: Feed a moving LED display with remote data from a PC, wireless!
